On 3 September, two teams from Year 4 and 5 proudly represented Geraldton Christian College at the Midwest Numero Challenge.

This exciting opportunity, part of the College’s Extension and Enrichment Program in Primary, saw these young mathematicians put their skills to the test in a series of intense rounds of the Numero card game.

The Midwest Numero Challenge is a highly anticipated event. The challenge comprises multiple rounds of games, both for teams and individuals, allowing students to showcase their mathematical talent.

This year, the competition was fiercer than ever, with participants from various schools across the region competing in two heats over two days.

On the day of the competition, the atmosphere was electric.

The students were ready to take on the challenge against 16 other teams competing on the day.

Each round tested their ability to think quickly and accurately under pressure.

The games were intense, with each student striving to outdo their opponents and score the highest points.

The Midwest Numero Challenge is more than just a competition; it’s an opportunity for young students to develop a love for mathematics and to build confidence in their abilities.

The seven students from Year 4 and 5 demonstrated that with hard work and dedication, they can achieve great things.

Both teams placed in the top 10 teams of the day.

We look forward to seeing their continued success in future challenges.
