Week 3 Term 3

Posted by Fiona Davidson

It’s great to be settling back into more “normal” routines again this term, as Covid-19 restrictions have eased somewhat since last term. Secondary students had an Assembly this week, and Primary students will have their first Assembly next week.

It’s nice to see the tables set up outside the Canteen, and parents and staff enjoying being able to order coffees in the morning.

The Secondary Athletics Carnival will be on next Friday 14th August – don’t forget to order lunches (burgers or sausage sizzles) online by 3pm Monday, or at Student Services (correct cash required) by 3pm Tuesday. The Year 12 Ball Committee will be very appreciative of your support for their fundraising efforts.

The Primary Athletics Carnival is the following Wednesday 19th August. Lunches can be ordered from the Canteen online or in person before school (parents are welcome to order too, and there will be a coffee and cake special running on the day).

We have a busy term ahead with plenty of activities happening. One of the most exciting will be the official opening of the NEW Mountain Bike Track at the College. This will be combined with the Primary Bike-a-thon to make it an action packed, fun filled day for all of our Strath families.

Write the 19th of September into your calendars from 12noon until late as we have Bike-a-thon, Mountain Bike races, live music, food, a bonfire and more planned. Further details will be out soon – this will be a ticketed event to register for races (free) and for catering in the evening (paid) – so don’t miss out!!

SENTRAL PARENT APP

Sentral have improved their “Sentral for Parents” App, which we can now recommend to our families.

It makes accessing the parent portal much easier, you can advise student absences via the app, view the College calendar and daily notices, book/view parent/teacher interviews, look at your child’s timetable, reports etc.

Please download the app and enter the same log in details you use for the Parent Portal.

PRE-PRIMARY – NAIDOC Week Art Competition

Pre-Primary students entered artwork in the Child and Parent Centre – Rangeway Art Competition in Term 2.

We were so excited that Addison H and Holly E won a prize each for their art works and all the children received a wonderful gift of playdough and shells to make some creative artwork in class.

The theme was “Families”. As a class we also made a family poster for the Art Competition.

YEAR 9 ROGAINE CAMP

Last weekend 8 students competed in the 6 hour Schools Championships of the “Out of Isolation” Rogaine.  The Camp was held down South, near Donnybrook.

Students quoted: “Best camp ever”!!

Structured freedom in challenging environments is what teens need these days to thrive, understand what they can achieve in a small group and to develop their faith in God!  Rogaining gives students this opportunity to rise above struggles!

It was definitely worth the 1600km drive to compete!

We are looking forward to next years event! Thanks to Mr Fletcher and Mrs Harrington for making the big weekend trek for the weekend with us.

CareMonkey becomes Operoo

CareMonkey is rebranding and will become “Operoo” as from Monday 10 August.

For parents/guardians it won’t affect you, apart from seeing a different name/logo etc. The CareMonkey App will continue as before, with new branding.

We will change CareMonkey to Operoo in all of our College information, which may take a little time.

You can read more about the reason for their rebranding here.
