Phase 3 Covid-19 Restrictions

With restrictions being eased again from tomorrow, Saturday 6 June, next week will see a few changes at the College.

From Monday 8 June, the following changes will take effect at the College.

In line with latest Health advice, parents/guardians onsite for pre-arranged meetings and/or drop off/pick up is limited to a maximum of 100 people at any one time with physical distancing of one person per 2 square metres and good hygiene practices applied. Therefore:

  • Only ONE parent/guardian of Kindy to Year 2 students is permitted on College grounds for drop off/pick up – please maintain physical distancing and good hygiene practices;
  • Students in Years 3-12 should continue to be dropped off and collected from College car parks – parents should not enter College grounds, unless they have a pre-arranged appointment;
  • Canteen orders for lunch will be online but the Canteen will be open for students at Recess for cash sales (no online orders for Recess);
  • Online orders will continue for the Library, or parents/guardians can visit by appointment only;
  • Camps may recommence, but must not exceed 100 people;
  • Increased cleaning will continue until the end of Term 2, which includes play equipment and sports equipment.

Please read the letter emailed home today which includes more detailed information.

Kapture Photos – Mon 15 & Tues 16 June

A reminder that Kapture Photos will be at the College on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 June to take school photos.

Detailed Information, and the Class Schedule, will be emailed home either today, or next Monday.

You can order photos online – Personalised flyers have been sent home this week with student ordering information. Sibling Photo Orders close at midday on Friday 12th June (late orders cannot be accepted). https://www.kapture.com.au/buy.asp

Online Orders – Canteen and Uniform Shop

The College is now absorbing the transaction fee that used to be charged by QuickCliq when parents were making online orders (21 cents per transaction).

Some families would combine Canteen orders to avoid the fee charges. Please can you do separate Canteen orders for each child moving forward, which assists the Canteen staff as they process the lunch bags.

Online Orders for the Canteen will now close at 9.00am instead of 9.30am to ease pressures for staff on Canteen mornings.

Year 2 Art

Year 2’s have been busy creating art pieces using many different textures, shapes and colours which allows them to practice different techniques and explore their creativity.

They will also be writing a response as to how they have used the art element of texture in their art piece.

Year 10 Food Technology

I had the pleasure of being Food Taster/Judge for Year 10 Food Technology students this week. On the menu was Spicy Pork Noodles.

I had a marking sheet to give scores for presentation, flavour, temperature and food being delivered on time. Mrs Phillips then also gave the students marks for food preparation and clean up.

All of the food was very delicious. Overall winners for me were Isaac H, Water K and Oliver E who not only had the best tasting food, but also the most beautiful presentation. Some Master Chefs in the making perhaps?

~ Mrs Fiona Davidson, Communications Manager

Year 9 & Year 5 Buddies

Recently the Year 5 Class created robots in Design Technology with Miss Wheat, recycling cardboard we had here at school.

During Buddy Class with the Year 9’s, students painted and decorated the robots together as a buddy activity – it was awesome!

How wonderful to see our secondary students mentoring and enjoying activities with the younger primary students.

~ Mrs Kristen Fenby, Year 9 BLW Teacher

Circle Time, Pre-Primary

The Pre-Primary class have been exploring  “Its okay to make mistakes” through circle time sessions.

We discussed embracing life’s happy accidents, the mistakes and mess-ups that can lead to self discovery. We have read two books on the topic A beautiful oops and The book of mistakes. Students also created some fantastic artwork linking to the books that we read.

~ Mr Hayden Scally, Primary Student Support

Nature Play

What happens when there is a big storm in Geraldton? Kids go wild with nature play!

How wonderful is this “cubby” built by Primary students over the last week or so?

They have been having a great time playing in it together.
