On Friday 7 August, the College had the privilege of hosting singer and former international cricketer Henry Olonga at Songs and Stories with Henry Olonga.

About 160 people filled the College Hall, with a band consisting of staff, music tutors, Geraldton City Band brass players and a local pastor.

The audience was delighted by songs and stories of Henry’s life.

The evening began with a sausage sizzle, prepared by the Physical Education Department and Secondary Student Representative Councillors, with sausages kindly provided by event sponsor Gearing Butchers.

For the first items of the night, Henry was accompanied by the Primary ‘Sing Out!’ Choir, assisted by Mrs Evers and Mrs Handsworth.

Alongside Pastor David Mansfield, Henry shared about his early life in Zimbabwe, cricketing career and opposition to political leaders.

The audience was delighted by renditions of songs such as Bridge Over Troubled Water, You Raise Me Up and Bring Him Home.

Supported by the band and featuring a solo by Mr Ramokosoi on keys, the night concluded with a moving rendition of Amazing Grace.

Overall, the concert was a big hit, enjoyed by audience members young and old.

This could not have been accomplished without the help of staff and students. Thank you to all who contributed.
