Rogaining is a sport which involves long-distance cross-country navigation, combining strategy, endurance, and teamwork.

Participants use a map and compass to locate checkpoints (called controls) spread across natural landscapes such as bushland, forest, or farmland. This particular event was held in Dryandra, WA.

One of our College teams – drawn from the Year 9 Outdoor Education class – was awarded Junior Female State Champions, scoring an impressive 160 points. Elizabeth T, Leah-May L and Zeeva B navigated exceptionally well, reaching several high-scoring controls.

Our boys’ team — Cody A, DK, Engelbert L, Hamish E-S and Jaxon P —covered a large area and came close to reaching a 100-point control, but narrowly missed it.

Despite navigating for nearly six hours, Alexandrah M, Dakota W, Keely C and Lily T returned in high spirits and enjoyed relaxing around the campfire.

A group of seven students later ventured out with Mr Roffman and Mrs Harrington in search of the elusive control number 21. Although they didn’t find it, the adventure was still worthwhile.

We look forward to future challenges and thank Mr Boase and Mrs Foster for their support in preparing students for this event.
