Satellites made from recycled materials landed in the science laboratory during Year 7 science class.
Students were researching the International Space Station (ISS) as they explored the topic of space to understand the aim, findings and importance for humanity of this scientific expedition.
Teacher Mrs Sindy Boonzaier said the project captured the imagination of students as they developed a greater understanding of the wonder and magnitude of the solar system and the heavens.
Incredibly, the ISS is as big as a football field and has been continuously occupied for more than 20 years.
It has provided a wealth of data and evidence to researchers that has contributed to scientific development and understanding.
To finish the project and demonstrate their scientific learning, students created space probes or satellites using recycled materials, such as empty sardine tins and empty Nespresso coffee capsules.
