Year 8 science students are exploring how the earth was made by investigating the process of rock formation.
Science Teacher Mrs Jeanine Evers said the students are studying the creation of different types of rocks – sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic – as part of the Earth Science curriculum.
“Students have examined a variety of rock samples, comparing textures, colours and characteristics, and have explored the forces that transform rocks from one type to another over time.”
It’s vital to understand rocks and minerals as they are used to create and help sustain many parts of modern society.
Rocks formations also contribute to the natural beauty that we enjoy in the environment around us.
Mrs Evers said: “The students are excited to learn more about God’s creation and it’s helped them to see the beauty and complexity of the world around us.”
