Congratulations to all of our students who attended the Year 9 Sport and Recreation Rogaine Camp and competed at the Mysterious Traveller Australasian Rogaine Championships 2024 on 7 September.
Rogaining is a cross country, ultra endurance navigation activity – a little like “choose your own adventure orienteering”, where students hunt for control points through 400km2 of natural forest in hilly terrain, in teams of between two and five people.
This year was the national championships with huge congratulations to our following teams:
Junior Girls Champions (270 points): Emmy A, Addison O, Emmy C and Taylor A.
Junior Boy Champions (340 points): Caleb B, Charlie H, Jax K, Hamish P and Matthew S.
Equal Runner Up Junior Girls Champions (50 points): Charlotte R, Gracie C, Mackenzie D.
Equal Runner Up Junior Girls Champions (50 points): Paige T, Ella E, Marnie M, Theresa S.
Additionally, Lysander F (Year 10 student) and his rogaine partner Sophia U (Geraldton Grammar School exchange student from Norway), became the Mixed Juniors National Champions with a massive score of above 600 points.
Honorable mention to Cam H, Kian S and Jacob S who were well on their way to a massive score before losing their way and forfeiting their result.
Students have returned with epic stories of overcoming and reliance on God and each other in their teams that can only come about through their attendance at this open environment, away from electronic device screens.
Further information about this, past and future events can be found at wa.rogaine.asn
A massive thanks to attending staff Keira Foster, Kelly Harrington and Jeremy Boase for assisting me at this event – and to all the volunteers from the Western Australian Rogaine for hosting the event.
