Budding creatives at work

Year 4 students are being equipped with skills for our future technological world.

They are creating videos for Book Week using Stop Motion Animation (SMA) and based upon the bestselling children’s book How to Train Your Dragon.

Year 4 Teacher Mr Jared Grimsley said the students love the hands-on digital challenge. They have created characters with modelling clay and are recording a short video retelling part of the novel.

It takes 100 photos to create 20 to 30 seconds of animation, so it’s a big challenge for the students.

“They love the hands-on learning. Collaboration and working in teams have helped to build friendships as each student brings something unique to the table and they support each other,” Mr Grimsley

Students will premier their videos during the College Book Week celebration later this term. The students will make a QR code for each video which parents can scan to view.
